Positive Post Tuesday

I may be posting this after midnight, so it’s technically Wednesday. But I don’t care. Being positive is good every day. So, in response to Brody’s positive post idea, I will write about some wonderful people we have here involved with Campus Crusade for Christ at GVSU.

For spring break this year, I went to Panama City Beach with Campus Crusade for Christ and it was an amazing week. I wasn’t planning to go at first, but when an open spot became available, something inside me told me to take it, so I did. I signed up two days before we left. So with this being the case, I wasn’t very prepared and I hadn’t thought about it much, so I didn’t know what to expect either. I was going to be riding down there with four other people I have never met, heard of, or seen before in my life, and that’s never a very comfortable position for me to be in… until now. They are awesome people, and one great week in Florida could never be enough to get to know them as much as I’d like to.

Sometimes you talk with people and you can tell that you just sort of click, and somehow you know that you’re friends. I had a certain bond with these people that just let me trust them and talk with them in deeper ways than I can with other friends. I can only say that I want these friendships to grow stronger as time goes on. I will never be as happy in a van unless they are there.

Sanctus Real

Sanctus Real’s new cd is here! I have yet to get it, but hopefully I will have it as soon as I can. I have always loved the name Sanctus Real, ever since I looked up the word ’sanctus,’ of course. Whatever the definition might say, I think of ’sanctus’ as being a ritual worshipful song, just something that is done and over with, something on a checklist. But a real sanctus, I always just think of meaning, a real song of praise and worship, true, moving, loving. That’s how I want my worship to be.

Paul Colman – Africa

It seems that when I make it a point to blog about something, I stay up very late. But I do have something to blog about for today.

I remember back to when I used to listen to the Paul Colman Trio often. They had a song called Africa that he wrote about a trip to Africa where he was going to play at some place, I think it was a church. About that song, he said that while he was there and as he saw how those people worshiped, he was just speechless. He went up to play his music, but he said he couldn’t do it after seeing how real and authentic and beautiful that their worship was. I don’t know how the rest of the story went, but that’s ok.

Somehow, I was reminded of this song tonight. I imagine having my breath taken away at seeing such a powerful act of worship. What will it take for me to worship like that? What will I have to change in my life? How about you? I hope that I can think upon this, and I encourage you to think about it as well.
